"Same Planet Different World"

As part of the Global Strategy Institute, SEVEN FUTURES identifies and analyzes the driving forces of change shaping seven distinct geographical regions out to the year 2025 and beyond. The seven discrete regions we explore are (1) Latin America & the Caribbean; (2) Europe; (3) the Middle East and North Africa; (4) Sub-Saharan Africa; (5) Russia/Eurasia; (6) South Asia; and (7) East Asia & South East Asia.

Each of these regions face growing challenges and important opportunities that will affect the rest of the world….

How well prepared are these regions to capitalize on the new opportunities? And how well prepared are they to meet new challenges Or withstand new threats?

Seven Futures is a challenge to leadership across the world - a challenge to think seriously about events that are over the horizon and outside their borders…

How will leaders from within these regions respond? How will leaders in other countries respond?

THE TEAM

The SEVEN FUTURES team is led by founder and project director Erik Peterson. Also contributing to the Initiative's efforts are Project Coordinator Laura Keating and Research Assistant Fruzsina Csaszar.

Briefings

We have captured the key points of our research in a fast-moving, computer-generated presentation that has been taken around the world. The range of audiences spans every sector - from government to corporate to academic to nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) - and every setting - from local boardrooms to huge auditoriums overseas. SEVEN FUTURES is constantly updated to reflect the latest data analysis and available technologies and can be custom-tailored to suit the needs of your organization or event. It continues to be the focal point of a running debate at CSIS and other organizations on the most important forces shaping the world and the policy challenges they engender.

Conferences

The SEVEN REVOLUTIONS Forum, a series of small seminars held regularly at CSIS, focuses on a range of issues germane to the SEVEN FUTURES. Top experts present on topics such as the challenge of biotechnological advances to governance, the future of Russia, and the diffusion of information in the developing world.

Reports and Newsletters

The SEVEN REVOLUTIONS Initiative issues periodic monographs on various strategic issues, including a volume in 2004 on water. In addition, the Initiative distributes a regular newsletter, "Future Watch," with news and perspectives on global issues and trends. Past issues have discussed the impact of the SARS outbreak, terrorism, and world energy trends.
